How to convert PDF to JPG or PNG for free with okPDF.org
Save a PDF page as JPG or PNG for free, no account needed. Choose pages and resolution, open the ZIP and check the result. Your PDF stays on your device.
1. Choose the PDF and pages
Open PDF to JPG and PNG and choose a static PDF from your device. To convert a single page, enter its number in the Pages to process field; for example, 2. Leave the field empty to convert all pages. The number refers to the page’s position in the file, not any number printed on it.
2. Choose JPG or PNG and the resolution
JPG works well for photos and uses lossy compression; PNG preserves image detail without that compression and is useful for text and graphics. File size depends on the content: JPG is not always the smaller file.
Choose 72 DPI for a small preview, 144 DPI for everyday use or 216 DPI for more detail. A higher resolution needs more memory and cannot recover detail missing from the original. The PDF’s text and vector graphics become pixels.
3. Download the ZIP and open the images
Click Convert to images, then download the ZIP. Even a single image is packaged in an archive: open it using your device’s file manager. Check the page, orientation and readability before using the result. The original PDF stays unchanged.
Try it: save page 2 only
Download pages-3.pdf from the box below and select 2. Choose PNG and 144 DPI. The ZIP should contain just one image with the large number 2: pages 1 and 3 should not appear. Repeat with JPG, then at 216 DPI, to compare detail and file size without expecting a guaranteed size reduction.
Convert the page or extract its images?
PDF to JPG and PNG reproduces the entire visible page, including words, photos and graphics. If you only want embedded photos, use Extract PDF images: not all composite or vector images can be extracted. For copyable text, use PDF to text, or OCR for scans; a JPG or PNG image does not contain selectable text.
Free, with documents kept on your device
Conversion and download are free, with no account or subscription. Your browser processes the PDF’s content on your device without sending it to a conversion server. The site and required components are downloaded over the internet; connection requests are separate from your documents and are described in the Privacy notice.
Limits to know before you start
You can select up to 100 pages, with a limit of 12 megapixels per page and 100 megapixels in total. The PDF must stay within the 25 MB limit and the download within 100 MB. For a complex document, select fewer pages or lower the resolution. This tool does not support encrypted PDFs, interactive forms or signature fields.
