How it works

Open a scanned PDF or one composed mostly of images.
Choose the quality and confirm the creation of pages in image format.
Compare the resulting file size and download the PDF.

PDFs without passwords or digital signatures. Standard forms are supported in the Fill PDF forms tool. Maximum 3 minutes per operation.

Is the text still selectable?

No. This mode recreates each page as an image: selectable text, links and vector content are not preserved. It is intended for scans, not universal lossless compression.

Will the file always be smaller?

It depends on the document. If the new file is the same size as the original or larger, we return the original unchanged.

How much can I compress?

You can choose between balanced quality at 144 DPI and a smaller file at around 96 DPI. The actual reduction depends on the images; processing stops if it exceeds memory limits, 100 megapixels in total or three minutes.
